Located at the northernmost state of the country, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is one of Malaysia’s up-and-coming technical universities that focuses on engineering and technology, and also pays attention to the pursuit of entrepreneurship and new media.

Background

Since its inception almost two decades ago, it has expanded its reaches in academics, research, sports and culture. Internationalisation is a key feature that underlies its pursuits, hence its participation in the GU8 Consortium. 

There are approximately 45 Engineering and Technology Bachelor’s and Diploma courses on offer, plus three non-engineering programmes. Among the engineering programmes are Microelectronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Communication Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. There is also a myriad of postgraduate (Masters and PhD) programmes. 

UniMAP is one of four universities in Malaysia that spearheads tertiary level technical and vocational education & training (TVET). In terms of research, there are more than 10 centres of excellence (CoE) and institutes including Geopolymer & Green Technology CoE, Unmanned Aerial Systems CoE, Renewable Energy CoE, Nano-electronic Engineering Institute, and Advanced Sensor Technology CoE.

UniMAP has close to 15,000 students from all over the world including Indonesia, China, Bangladesh, and Middle Eastern as well as African countries. Visitors to UniMAP are always mesmerised by Perlis’ quiet beauty, tranquil scenery, and rustic charm.
